Hidan is the latest member of the foul-mouthed and his partner Kakuzu. The first kanji in Hidan is hisha name, which means castle in the game of shogi. He was a believer named 'Jashin', a belief that worship the god Jashin and anything not produced the destruction considered a sin. As part of his religion, hidan has an inverted triangle-shaped amulet inside the circle. Before the battle begins, he prayed on this talisman, ask for forgiveness and also so that the target should be captured alive. Once the fight starts, hidan very unhappy if the fight is interrupted or forced to quit. After the fight, he did a 30-minute ritual in accordance with his beliefs, which culminated with stabbing himself in the chest and lying on the ground.

Hidan apparently can not die. He still has the ability to speak and can survive despite being in a dying condition to be met lots of injuries, as well as the severed neck. Although he can live in a part of the cut, Hidan must be connected to the body to be controlled. Despite the fact that he could not die, Hidan openly stated before the fight that he expects to be killed by his opponent. In battle, Hidan holding a three-edged scythe used as a projectile that is controlled by a rope wrapped around his wrist. Although he was able to attack the most talented ninja weapon, Hidan claims that the scythe makes him the attacker late in the Akatsuki. Three eyes of his scythe is not intended to increase the damage of the attack, but to increase his chances to take his blood.

After he gets his blood and eat it, Hidan uses his own blood to draw symbols in the talisman on the ground. Hidan then undergo a transformation, making almost the entire skin from black. Furthermore Hidan draw white lines roughly in the same position with bones. Combined with his scythe, this transformation makes it like the Grim Reaper. After a perfect transformation, Hidan and his being "connected", and all damage received Hidan applies to enemies (such as voodoo dolls). During his stay in the symbol, Hidan uses a spear instead of his scythe to injure his own body, resulting in pain that is not playing to his body and his opponent. Unable to die, Hidan was not injured by the attack, but it is a pleasure for him. After toying enemies with non-lethal wound memberiakn, Hidan stabbed his chest, which resulted in his opponent hurt, and transformation back to normal. Despite it being a very useful technique, Hidan should remain in the symbol. If he leaves the symbol, transformation and "relationship" between Hidan and his enemy is still there, making it just needs to get back into the symbol and repeat the technique.

Although he was a member of Akatsuki, Hidan did not like the amount of formality is needed, especially into his partner Kakuzu. More specifically, he did not like the fact that Kakuzu fight merely for the sake of money. Kakuzu did not like their partnership, and have little patience for Hidan fighting style and time-consuming ritual. However, because of habit who like to kill all Kakuzu and Hidan partner who can not die, both of them still remain in pairs, which can attack Hidan Kakuzu without doubt to get a new pair. It also allows both to combine attacks, where Hidan can distract enemies while Kakuzu attack from a distance without doubt the safety of Hidan. Partnership sangant Kakuzu also useful, in which the yarn can sew any part of Hidan's body back to normal, resulting in the wound can heal in time. Hidan also does not seem like Pein and openly disrespectful in front of other members.

Hidan and Kakuzu then travel through the Land of Fire, where Hidan have to deal with Asuma Sarutobi. After forming a "liaison" with Asuma and willing to kill him, Hidan stopped by Shikamaru Nara. Although Shikamaru can destroy the "liaison" and allow the Asuma decapitate Hidan, Hidan can immediately re-join the body with the help of Kakuzu, reshape "liaison", and kill Asuma. Before Hidan can draw attention Shikamaru and other team members, he and Kakuzu called by the Chairman of the Akatsuki. After they finished affairs, Hidan and Kakuzu returned to finish their battle with Konoha, though on the way they are captured by Shikamaru, who had been waiting for them. Although Kakuzu can escape, Shikamaru managed using the technique of reflection on Hidan to attack Kakuzu, although eventually he decided to lure Hidan go so that other team members can deal with Kakuzu. Upon reaching their destination, Shikamaru dealing with Hidan and cover paper invitation explosion, resulting in the creation of a hole in the bottom of Hidan. Finally, after having the opportunity to avenge the death of Asuma, Shikamaru lit a cigarette and threw it to Hidan, resulting in an explosion of paper covering it exploded. While the remains fell into the hole, Hidan promised to kill Shikamaru however, make Shikamaru replied with menutupu hole so that Hidan trapped in the rubble. While it is unknown if he is still alive or not, Akatsuki Hidan is no longer regarded as a member.
